The excitement of a new puppy is similar to the birth of a child.  My St. Bernard pup was born in May 2005 and I brought her home July 1, 2005. 
On Labor Day weekend she woke up and would not eat or drink anything.  I took her outside to go the bathroom and she had projectile diarrhea.  I was frantic!
